The Understory
“The Understory is pure magic,
as is Buffy. Buffy is an incredible teacher, not just of asana, but of philosophy, wisdom, and life. She is incredibly generous with her time, her teachings, and her heart. She is incredibly skilled at weaving community and connection among her students, enabling us to learn from one another, as well. If you want to feel more peaceful, connected, and clear, I cannot recommend studying with Buffy more highly.” - Caroline C.
Offered in a yearlong format,
the Understory is a synthesis of years of deep inner work and is in its fourteenth season. A virtual program you can take in the comfort of your own home, the Understory combines yoga, meditation, and self-study in a well-held container. Previous years have included topics such as stillness, fire, ritual, and so much more. Each week Buffy offers practical ways to imbue the theme into your life, so the course is embodied on a deep and life-altering level.

“I was feeling dark and heavy when I found the Understory.
Buffy's wise, loving teachings were the perfect medicine. With poetry, specificity, and embodied knowledge, she guided me to a place of deeper peace and resiliency. I needed a deep dive into my own practice, my own capacity to heal and grow, and a rich community and conceptual frame in which to do it. The Understory is all of that and more.“ -Ashley D.
“Buffy is offering extremely potent medicine to the world.
Her poetic gift with words, personal storytelling and heart-sharing brings in such a rich and unique layer to her work that is like nothing I’ve ever experienced. This [program] was perfect for someone like me who was ready to take a deep inward journey towards further healing, understanding, self-compassion and inner freedom. The ingredients Buffy brought to the Understory each week were offered in a safe and supported space and feel like a gift that keeps giving. Thank you, Buffy, for all the ways you share your gifts and have changed my life.” -Jaime C.
